Custom Linking Dollies
The Challenge
The customer is a distributor of household items and groceries. They needed an easy and efficient way to transport cardboard to different areas of their warehouse, without using forklifts. They collect cardboard sheets for packaging throughout the warehouse and did not have an easy way to transport them in one trip.
The Solution
RPP designed a custom dolly that attached to a de-palletized container, that has extra hardware for towing. This design allowed the customer to link four of them together and transport all of their materials in one trip.
The design was more complex because we had to make sure the containers did not seize upon certain turn angles and also had to make sure that they were strong enough to last over time.
The customer requested heavy-duty casters along with thicker steel that we normally don’t use.
The Results
The customer ended up with a product that they could use more effectively and efficiently to transport their cardboard packaging throughout their warehouse. The dolly is able to tow four containers at a time, making it easier to transport larger quantities of cardboard at a time. It is also made with thick steel and heavy-duty casters, which aid in making sure the product is strong enough to last over time.
