As the client base for industrial plastic bulk containers expands, so do the applications. While legacy concepts like your metal cage IBCs are still common today, many new options exist that improve upon this design. Modern bulk liquid containers better support new processing applications and bring beneficial characteristics that reflects their improved overall versatility.

We have expanded our catalog at RPP Containers to include another bag-in-box option for storing and shipping liquids. Introducing the 40” x 48” x 45” Foldable IBC; easily usable by a single operator due to clean handle/hinge engagement and single drop door that allows efficient liner removal/installations. Designed for use in various industries such as food-safe processing, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Safe for food contact

“Food-safe processing” is a massive topic, but a few basic examples include sauces/syrups, fats/oils, condiments, flavorings, purees, dairy, and sweeteners. Other applications would be plastic bottle preform storage, plastic resin processing, and wine grape storage/fermentation. USDA-regulated products such as eggs and FDA-regulated eggshells can also be mentioned here.

Cosmetics such as lotions, soaps, and shampoos are the most common examples. However, this container can also be used for powders and dyes with the correct liner and equipment. Please note that we only offer a bottom discharge version for extraction.

Pharmaceuticals won’t always be in their post-production form but rather typically in a powder or liquid/semi-liquid state. Heavy loads like powders and liquids can ship via road or rail with this container.

Molded with both UV and cold resistant additives, this container is designed to endure long stretches of time in harsh environments when duty calls (operational temperature range: -4 °F to - 104 °F). This exposure will not inhibit reusability or reduce lifespan due to a minimal number of moving components (no door latches being one such example).

The versatility is not limited to environmental conditions. This build also sports a significant weight capacity of up to 3,307 lbs. per unit and 17,637 lbs. in a stack, depending on the characteristics of the load. With liquids, the numbers are 265 gallons and 7,055 lbs. dynamic stack capacity – suitable for road or railroad transportation. We expect most users to store up to 5 high with this product fully loaded as a general specification. When not in use, they collapse down to a height of just 13.4”.

This container’s construction makes it very strong, durable, and efficient maintenance. Smooth walls and bottom discharge port make for quick and easy cleaning. The port is compatible with the DN50 valve and there is a versatile range of liners available. The lid is self-locking and features multiple strap locations and slots for tamper evident caps.

Environmental impact should also not be a concern with this product as the container and its lid are fully recyclable. Impact is also an attribute of the return ratio, since you can fit 7 folded containers on a standard truck reducing the number of trips needed for empties. Another aspect of this container is that the feet are easily replaceable in the event of accidental forklift damage – a huge material expense and environmental savings attribute.
