The 4 most common bulk container modifications

4 most common customizations

RPP Containers offers a wide variety of reusable plastic bulk containers. With our range of sizes, weight capacities, and container options we can usually help find the perfect bulk bin for your application. Sometimes, however, your application and bin needs can be more specialized and require modifications to our bins to make them your perfect solution. The following are the four most common bulk container modifications

Custom height container

1 - Custom Height Containers

Our standard bulk containers are available in heights of 25”, 34”, 42” and 50”. Over the years, these heights have shown to work for most of our customers. However, if you have extremely dense products or large, awkward parts, we can customize these heights to work specifically for you. With our line of fixed wall bulk containers, we can customize the height of your container from 8-24 inches tall for extremely dense loads like bearings or engine blocks. For larger awkward items like columns or display stands, we can use our modular bulk containers to extend the height of our 45x48 bins by 7” and 10” increments.

Custom locking lid

2 - Lockable lid containers

The standard bulk container lid simply sits on top much like a shoebox lid. These lids do not add any structural integrity to the bins, they simply function as dust covers. Over the years, we have had customers ask for lockable lids for security or tamper-evident seals so they can make sure contents aren’t disturbed during transit. For lockable lids, we can use hasps along with D-rings that allow for the use of padlocks or combo locks. For a tamper evident seal, corresponding holes can be drilled into the bins and lids to be used with zip ties or tamper evident tags.

Removeable side walls

3 - Removable wall containers

The variety of our DuraGreen collapsible plastic bulk containers have drop doors on the long sides of the bin for easy access. These doors tend to be around 1/3 of the full height of the container and make it easier to load and unload products from the bins. For certain awkward or heavy products, it can be difficult to lift those items high enough to get over the standard drop door. On many of our containers we can modify the sidewall of the bins to allow for one wall to be removed to allow for easier loading and unloading of products. This process normally leaves around a 2–4-inch lip from the bottom of the container, but still vastly increases accessibility to the bin.

Full access bulk container

4 - Full side access containers

If the 2-4-inch lip on the bottom of the container creates issues for your particular use case, we can also modify most of our containers to have full side access. This modification removes an entire side wall all the way down to the inside floor of the container. This allows items to be forklifted directly into the bin. Full side access containers tend to use a metal frame to keep the side walls rigid which renders them non-collapsible.

Do you have questions?

The above list is by no means an exhaustive description of our modification options. RPP Container’s Custom Bulk brand has almost limitless possibilities, but it can be helpful to see the most common modifications as a jumping off point for your customized design or modification. If you have a project that doesn’t quite fit the bill for a standard plastic collapsible bulk container reach out to our knowledgeable sales staff and custom team and we will be more than happy to find the perfect bulk container, standard, or modified, to fit your needs.
